Maharajganj. As soon as the order to ban the broadcast of Indian news channels in Nepal came on Thursday, the voices of cynicism against the decision of the Government of Nepal have started to rise. Public representatives and local people of the Madhesh region of Nepal adjacent to the border have described this decision as a stress-increasing step. People said that this decision is not appropriate.
Let us know that Multi System Operators (MSOs) have stopped broadcasting other channels in Nepal except Indian news channel Doordarshan. Mega Max TV vice-president Dhruv Sharma said that broadcasting of all Indian news channels, except Doordarshan, has been stopped from Thursday evening. Santosh Pandey, an MLA from the Baiharwa region of Nepal, said that the channel distributors have taken such a decision on their own in favor of the Nepal government. The move will increase tension between the two countries following the channel distributors’ move. No institution should take such a step which affects the relations between the two countries.
Mega Max TV vice-president Dhruv Sharma said that broadcasting of all Indian news channels, except Doordarshan, has been stopped from Thursday evening. Santosh Pandey, MLA from Baiharwa region of Nepal, said that the Patel government has taken such a decision in favor of the Nepal government itself. Tensions between the two countries will increase after this move to run the channel. No institution should take such a step which affects the relations between the two countries.
Nepal’s Madheshi leader and MP Pramod Yadav, MLA Ashtabhuja Pathak and former minister Gulzari Yadav have also termed the prohibition on publication of Indian private newspapers as a step to increase tension. All the people’s representatives have demanded the Government of Nepal to withdraw this order in one voice.
