Pratapgarh. A class 9 student committed suicide on Saturday by hanging herself. Her mother filed a complaint with the police alleging that her daughter committed suicide because she was excluded from the exam for non-payment of fees.
The police registered a case against five people including the school manager and got the post-mortem done. On the instructions of the DM, SDM Sadar, CO and DIOS reached the college and investigated. The body of the student was brought home late in the evening. The last rites will be performed on Sunday when her father arrives.
This is the whole case
17-year-old Riya Prajapati, daughter of Kamlesh Prajapati, a resident of Pitaipur Mandhata, was a class 9 student in Kamala Sharan Inter College, run in the village itself. According to her mother Poonam Devi, her daughter Riya Saroj went to the school to take the exam at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Due to pending education fees of her daughter, the school manager Santosh Kumar Yadav, Bade Babu Deepak Saroj, Principal Raj Kumar Yadav, and teacher and fourth class employee of the school Dhaniram insulted her for the admission form and denied her the exam for not paying the full fees and threatened her. Saddened by this, her daughter came home and hanged herself in the room. She was the youngest among four siblings. Her father Kamlesh Prajapati works as a labourer in Delhi.
SO Mandhata Subhash Yadav said that on the complaint of mother Poonam Devi, a case has been registered against five people including the manager and investigation is being done.
On the other hand, on getting information about the incident, on the instructions of DM Shiv Sahay Awasthi, SDM Sadar Shailendra Verma, CO Sadar Karishma Gupta and DIOS Omkar Rana reached the school and investigated. A report has been prepared and sent to the DM.
More than half the children have fees pending
The team sent by the DM to the school found out that the student’s brother, who is a class 11 student, has a fee of Rs 1500 pending, but he was found giving the exam. Along with this, 80 children were found registered in class 9 and 43 in class 11.
Despite the fees of most of these children being pending, the children were not deprived of the exam. DIOS Omkar Rana said that out of more than 450 students registered in the school, more than half of them are giving exams despite their fees being pending.
At the same time, Kamala Sharan Inter College manager Santosh Kumar Yadav was called several times to know his side, but his mobile was switched off.
An inquiry has been conducted into the suicide of a student of Kamala Sharan Inter College by hanging herself. The police have registered a case. Further action will be taken on the basis of the inquiry report.
