Hyderabad: Comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’ is once again embroiled in controversy. Earlier, it had to face criticism due to a joke on Deepika Padukone’s depression and now it has once again come under controversy. An FIR has been registered against a contestant in the show for commenting on dog meat for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
Commenting on the people of Arunachal proved costly
In the recent episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’, contestant Jessie Nabam, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh, made such a comment on the people of her state that a complaint has been filed against her. Actually, what happened was that the show’s founder Samay Raina asked her, ‘Have you ever eaten dog meat?. So she said that she has not eaten it, but has heard such rumours that people eat it. He said, ‘My friends eat it themselves, I know. They even eat their own pets sometimes’. When asked, ‘Are you saying this jokingly’. To this, Jessie replied, ‘No, I am not saying it just like that’.
Complaint filed against the contestant
This video of the show went viral on social media. There was a strong reaction from Arunachal on this comment and an FIR was lodged against contestant Jessie. According to reports, an FIR was lodged on 31 January 2025 addressed to the officer in charge of Itanagar Police Station in Arunachal Pradesh. Although no official confirmation has been made by the police, the copy of the FIR is going viral on the internet.
The FIR states that Jessie has made controversial remarks on the people of Arunachal Pradesh in the show, on which immediate action should be taken. So that in future no one makes such comments against the people here. Comedians Akash Gupta and Mallika Dua were also present in this episode along with Samay Raina.
