Rampur. Investigation will be done in another case against Samajwadi Party’s national general secretary Azam Khan, who is lodged in Sitapur jail. This case is 18 years old, in which he is accused of running a bulldozer on a papad factory, cellar and flour mill and demanding extortion.
The police had filed a final report in this case. On the application of the victim, the court has rejected the final report and ordered a re-investigation.
The case is from the tenure of the SP government
This case is from the year 2006. At that time there was a Samajwadi Party government in the state. Azam Khan was the Urban Development Minister. It is alleged that on 19 July 2006, on the orders of Azam Khan, the administrative officials ran a bulldozer on a papad factory, cellar and flour mill in Sainjani Nankar village and demolished it.
The victim had complained to the SP during the BSP government
On 10 July 2007, Afsar Khan, Zulfiqar Khan and Anwar Khan, residents of Mohalla Sarai Sahadat Yar Khan, complained about this incident to the Superintendent of Police when the (Bahujan Samaj Party) BSP government came to power. They alleged that Azam Khan had demanded five lakh rupees in the name of donation. When the donation was not given, their factory was demolished.
The case was registered on the order of the SP
In this case, on the order of the SP, the Ganj Kotwali police had registered an FIR against Azam Khan under sections of demanding extortion, threatening, assault and destroying goods by vandalism. After investigation, the police had filed a final report in the case. The court took cognizance of the final report of the police and sent notices to the plaintiff.
The court rejected the final report of the police
On this, the victim Zulfiqar Khan filed an objection in the court on the final report of the police through his advocate Awadhesh Agarwal. The advocate raised many questions on the police investigation. After hearing the objections, the MP-MLA Special Court (Magistrate Trial) has rejected the police’s final report. Also, the police has been ordered to re-investigate the case.
