Chandausi. The excavation of the razed Bawdi in the Muslim dominated area of Lakshmanganj locality of the city continued for the third day as well. After the work done by two dozen employees of the municipality along with the bulldozer, the steps of the Bawdi are now visible.
More than half of it has been illegally occupied and permanent construction has been done, which the administration is planning to remove. The possibility of demolition of some buildings in this has shaken the occupants. Some people are also claiming that the Bawdi is on their land.
The excavation is being done on the instructions of the DM
Earlier, by giving a letter to the SDM, Hindu leader Kaushal Kishore Vande Mataram had demanded its revival by alleging that the temple located in Lakshmanganj has become extinct and some people have occupied the land
After this, in the Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas organized in Chandausi Tehsil on Saturday, an application was given to the District Magistrate claiming that the temple and the Bawdi are in Lakshmanganj itself and bringing it into existence and beautifying it.
On this, DM Dr. Rajendra Pansia ordered Additional District Magistrate Judicial Satish Kumar Kushwaha and Tehsildar Dhirendra Pratap Singh to go to the spot and take action.
The stepwell was built in 400 square meter area
The search for the stepwell was started by digging with bulldozers from Saturday evening itself. The digging work continued on the third day on Monday. Two dozen employees of the municipality and two bulldozers are engaged in this. Due to this, the stairs built to go down to the stepwell have started appearing.
According to the map, the stepwell was built in 400 square meters of area, while only 210 square meters of land is visible on the spot. In such a situation, the people around have illegally occupied the rest of the land by making permanent constructions. According to District Magistrate Dr. Rajendra Pansia, action will be taken to remove the illegal encroachment on the land of the stepwell.
Let us tell you that there was a well at the bottom of the stepwell and curved rooms were built on three floors above it. In this, two floors were made of marble under the ground and one floor was made of bricks above the ground. People demolished the upper floor and the remaining part was buried under the soil.
Here, people have started claiming the land of the stepwell. Shipra Gera, who claims herself to be the granddaughter of former queen Surendrabala, is calling the stepwell her property.
