While going for Durga idol immersion in Gonda city, there was a dispute after stone pelting between two parties. Due to which anger spread among the people. As soon as the information was received, the SP himself reached the spot and explained to the angry people and after this the idols were taken out under police protection. Adequate police force has also been deployed on the spot.
Stone pelting happened while taking for immersion
SP Vineet Jaiswal said that in the evening, the idols were being taken for immersion in a sequence. During this time, someone from the crowd informed that two stones had fallen on them from somewhere. Due to which a crowd gathered there. However, after explaining to the people, all the idols were taken to the immersion site. The incident took place at Station Road Ghosiana of Nagar Kotwali area.
SP Vineet Jaiswal said that in Gonda city, on Saturday evening, the idols were being taken for immersion in Khaira Mandir pond in a sequence. At that time the power supply was disrupted, due to which there was darkness and as soon as they reached Ghosiana of the city, there was chaos due to the noise of stone pelting. Due to which anger arose in the crowd present there. The police force present on the spot somehow handled the situation. Meanwhile, the miscreants also overturned the vegetable carts and pelted stones.
The situation is under control now
SP Vineet Jaiswal said that the stone pelters are being traced. Strict action will be taken after investigation. Police forces have been deployed on the spot and the situation is under control at the moment.
