Mumbai’s Beed Police has arrested Baban Vishwanath Shinde, accused of embezzlement of Rs 300 crore, from near Krishna Gopal Temple in Vrindavan, Mathura. The arrested accused was absconding in the disguise of a saint in Vrindavan, but his arrest was possible after a joint operation of Vrindavan and Mumbai Police.
Mumbai Police arrested Baban Shinde, who was absconding in the case of embezzlement and fraud, and presented him in Mathura court and Mumbai Police has taken him to Mumbai on transit remand. Giving information about the case, SP City Arvind Kumar said that a person named Baban Shinde was hiding in Vrindavan in the guise of a saint-mahant after committing a scam of crores. Baban Shinde is a resident of Beed district in Maharashtra.
What is the allegation on Baban?
Actually, Baban is accused of absconding with Rs 300 crore of Jijau Mahasaheb Multistate Bank. Cases have been registered against accused Baban Shinde in Beed as well as Dharashiv district. Five cases of fraud have been registered against the accused from the depositors of Beed and Dharashiv. He was absconding after committing a fraud of more than three hundred crores. The police was looking for Baban Shinde for a long time, the police got information about the accused from secret sources, after which the police took strict action and arrested the accused.
Mumbai team made the arrest
The Mumbai team came to know the location of accused Baban from secret information. On the appropriate instructions of Beed Superintendent of Police Avinash Bargal, the local crime branch arrested Baban Shinde from a room in Vrindavan Krishna Gopal Mandir area of Uttar Pradesh on 24 September 2024. Shinde is the main accused in this case and his arrest will speed up the investigation. The police officer said that Shinde is accused of embezzling three hundred crore rupees of depositors in Jijau Maa Saheb Multi State Bank of Beed district of Maharashtra and then absconding from there. He had been living in Vrindavan disguised as a sadhu by dodging the police for a year.
