New Delhi. In the fourth match of the five match series against Australia, after the brilliant innings of captain Harry Brook (87) and Liam Livingstone (62), the English team achieved a big victory by 186 runs on the basis of the deadly bowling of Matthew Potts. With this, England equaled the series 2-2.
In the 39 overs match interrupted by rain, England batted first and scored 312 runs. In reply, the Kangaroos were all out for 126 runs in 24.4 overs. In the match, the bowlers of the visiting team also flopped before the batsmen. The visiting team was first made to cry by the English team with the bat. After this, the bowlers did not let the Australian batsmen do anything.
Potts exposed the truth
Matthew Potts took the maximum four wickets from the host team. The decisive match of the series will be played on Sunday, 29 September. Australia had got a good start. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh added 68 runs for the first wicket. But as soon as both of them sat in the pavilion, the Australian team’s batting collapsed like a pack of cards. Brydon Carse gave his team the first success by dismissing Head. Head scored 34 runs in 23 balls which included four fours and two sixes. He was the highest scorer of the team.
Marsh played an innings of 28 runs in 34 balls which included two fours and a six. Alex Carey scored 13 and Sean Abbott scored 10 runs. Apart from Potts, Carse took three wickets and Jofra Archer took two wickets for England. Leg spinner Adil Rashid got one wicket.
Livingstone hit 28 runs in Starc’s over
Earlier, stormy innings of Livingstone and Brook were seen on the Lord’s ground. Both of them thrashed the Australian bowlers fiercely. Livingstone thrashed fast bowler Mitchell Starc in the last over of the innings. He scored a total of 28 runs in Starc’s over with the help of four sixes and a four. With this, he became the Australian bowler to concede the most runs in an over.
Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave England a steady start and added 48 runs for the first wicket. Josh Hazlewood fell prey to him after scoring 22 runs. Will Jacks could score only 10 runs. Leg spinner Adam Zampa ended Ben Duckett’s innings. Duckett played an innings of 63 runs in 62 balls which included six fours and a six. After this, Brook and Livingstone dominated. Brook scored 87 runs in 58 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six. Livingstone scored an unbeaten 62 runs in 27 balls with the help of three fours and seven sixes.
