Lucknow. In the much talked about CMO Dr. Vinod Arya and Dr. Brahma Prasad Singh murder case, accused and shooter Anand Prakash Tiwari was sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed.
Meanwhile, Vinod Sharma and Ram Krishna Verma were acquitted due to lack of evidence. The verdict was pronounced by Special Judge CBI Court Anurodh Mishra on Wednesday.
The accused Vinod Sharma and Ram Krishna Verma were acquitted by the court as charges could not be framed against them. On 27 October 2010, bike riding miscreants in Vikasnagar Sector-14 shot and killed the then CMO of Family Welfare Department, Vinod Arya. He had left the house for a walk. The postmortem report confirmed that Vinod Arya was shot with five bullets.
This matter had not yet cooled down when the new CMO, Dr. Brahma Prasad Singh, appointed in place of Vinod Arya, was murdered on 2 April 2011. The murder of two CMOs within six months shook the then government. There was a lot of uproar. The then BSP government handed over the investigation of both the murders to the CBI.
It was also argued in the court that the murders were connected to the NRHM scam. The investigation of both the murders was still going on when, after two months, Deputy CMO Yogendra Singh Sachan died in suspicious circumstances inside the jail.
A judicial inquiry was conducted in the case of the death of the Deputy CMO. After the investigation, it was said that it cannot be denied to be a murder. Yogendra Sachan’s wife Dr. Malti and family members are still accusing him of being murdered.
A shooter was killed in an encounter
A shooter related to the murder was killed in an encounter, while Anshu Dixit fled during the hearing. CBI investigation was going on against Anand Prakash and Ramkrishna Verma. Finally, shooter Anand Prakash Tiwari was proved guilty. Ram Krishna Verma and Vinod Sharma were acquitted. Many witnesses in the case had also broken down.
CBI had filed a chargesheet in the murder case in the year 2022. It was written in the chargesheet that CMO Dr. Vinod Arya, Deputy CMO Dr. Yogendra Sachan were involved in the conspiracy to murder Dr. Brahma Prasad Singh.
This is how shooter Anand Prakash was proved guilty
The pistol used in the murder recovered from shooter Anand Prakash Tiwari and the cartridge shells recovered from the spot were sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for ballistic examination. The investigation of the ballistic expert confirmed that the cartridge shells recovered from the spot belonged to the pistol found with Anand Prakash Tiwari. The bullet was fired from the same pistol. CBI had sufficient and strong evidence against Anand Prakash Tiwari. That is why the court declared him guilty.
