Barabanki. During vehicle checking, the city police station removed the blue light from the vehicle of a magistrate. When the video of this action was broadcast, the matter reached the higher authorities and shortly after, the Superintendent of Police suspended the SSI of Kotwali Nagar and a post in-charge involved in the action.
The Kotwali police was checking vehicles on Wednesday evening at Patel Tiraha under Kotwali Nagar. During this, the police stopped a Bolero with Uttar Pradesh Government written on it and a blue light. When asked by the police personnel, the driver told that the vehicle belongs to the additional magistrate, but the police removed the light. The additional magistrate informed the higher authorities about this.
The SP suspended two
Taking cognizance of the matter, the SP conducted a preliminary investigation and it was found that at that time, Senior Sub Inspector Vishnu Kumar Sharma of Nagar Kotwali and Awas Vikas post in-charge Manoj Singh were present there, who were involved in this action. After this, the SP suspended both of them.
According to the administrative officials, the vehicle from which the light was removed belongs to the additional magistrate. The driver was dropping the additional magistrate at her residence and the lights were also off. Under disaster management, the additional magistrate is authorized to install lights. Due to this, action has been taken against the police personnel.
Whose vehicle is this?
This vehicle is said to be registered in the name of Neha Verma, resident of Shahapur Masauli, whose lights have only been removed, no challan has been issued. It is said that the vehicle is contracted, for which payment is being made as per rules.
There is also a discussion
It is said that it is not clearly mentioned in the Transport Department Gazette whether the additional magistrate is authorized to install multi-coloured lights or not. At the same time, the use of this light is valid during duty and at the time when the officer is sitting in the vehicle, while it is being said that at the time when the police removed the lights, the family members of the lady magistrate were sitting.
Lowering the morale of the police force
Former IPS officer and National President of Azad Adhikar Sena Amitabh Thakur has raised objection on the suspension of Sub Inspector Vishnu Kumar Sharma and Manoj Kumar Singh in the matter of removing the illegal blue light from the car of a female PCS officer. In his letter to the DGP, he said that both these police officers were performing their duty and under these circumstances, their suspension is objectionable and lowering the morale of the police force.
