Lucknow. Despite not getting the expected results from Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections, UP’s dominance continues in Modi 3.0 as well. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh’s top status remains in the Union Cabinet. Rajya Sabha member Hardeep Puri has been given the status of Cabinet Minister and RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary has been given the status of Minister of State with independent charge. The state has also got seven ministers of state.
UP’s representation may seem less in terms of numbers as compared to Modi 2.0, but in terms of the total number of NDA MPs, their number has increased from last time.
In the year 2019, NDA had got 64 seats from UP, whereas this time, despite getting only 36 seats, 10 MPs have been given the status of minister. In the cabinet expansion, full attention has also been given to the regional and caste equations of UP.
In Modi 3.0, Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh and Rajya Sabha member Hardeep Puri have got the status of Cabinet Minister, while RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary (Rajya Sabha member) has been given the responsibility of Minister of State with independent charge.
The state ministers include Pankaj Chaudhary, MP from Maharajganj, Jitin Prasad, MP from Pilibhit, SP Singh Baghel, MP from Agra, Kirti Vardhan Singh, MP from Gonda, Kamlesh Paswan, MP from Bansgaon and Anupriya Patel, president of Apna Dal (S), who has won the third consecutive election from Mirzapur. Modi government has also balanced the caste and regional equations in UP.
Three upper castes including two Kshatriyas (Rajnath Singh and Kirtivdhan Singh) and one Brahmin (Jitin Prasad), four backward castes including two Kurmis (Pankaj Chaudhary and Anupriya Patel), one Jat (Jayant Chaudhary), one Lodhi (BL Verma), two Dalits (Prof. SP Singh Baghel and Kamlesh Paswan) and one Sikh (Hardeep Puri) have been given place.
