Lucknow. In Indiranagar of the capital Lucknow, retired IAS officer Devendra Nath Dubey’s driver Akhilesh along with his partner Ranjit looted jewelry worth about one crore and then killed his wife Mohini. Akhilesh’s brother Ravi was also involved in this.
Both the brothers were working at Devendra Nath Dubey’s house for 13 years. Devendra and his wife trusted both the drivers a lot, but they did not know that one day they would betray them. After an encounter near Kukrail Bandh on Tuesday, the police recovered the looted goods. During this, constable Balkunj was injured in the firing, Akhilesh got shot in the leg in the retaliatory firing.
Police Commissioner SB Shirdkar said that Akhilesh is a TB patient and he had a loan of three lakh rupees. Akhilesh along with his brother Ravi had hatched a conspiracy of robbery 15 days ago. He also included his neighbor Ranjit in this. On Saturday morning, as soon as Devendra and Ravi left for the golf club in the car, Akhilesh and Ranjit reached home. When Mohini saw Akhilesh from the grill, she opened the door. Seeing the opportunity, Akhilesh killed Mohini by hitting her on the head with a screwdriver several times. Then after collecting jewelry and foreign currency worth about one crore rupees from the cupboards, he took out the CCTV DVR and kept it in the bag and left on the scooter.
When Ravi reaches home with Devendra from the golf club, Mohini’s body is lying in the dressing room. Meanwhile, Akhilesh also reaches Devendra’s house after leaving Ranjit. Akhilesh goes to the police station and informs about the incident. The police engaged in investigation gets clues from the CCTV cameras. After this, when Ravi, Akhilesh and Ranjit are interrogated strictly, the links of murder and robbery start getting revealed. Ranjit told that he has hidden the bag in a pit in the forest of Kukrail.
The police team reaches the forest with all three to recover the goods. A loaded pistol is also kept in the bag. While taking the bag out of the pit, Akhilesh takes out the pistol and fires at the police team, due to which constable Balkunj gets injured. Akhilesh gets shot in the leg in the retaliatory firing by the police.
