At Lucknow Airport, the Customs Department has seized gold worth more than Rs 2.5 crore from two different passengers. This gold was being brought from Dubai and Sharjah. During the interrogation of the Custom Department, both the passengers could not give correct information about the gold. After which the Customs Department seized the gold under the Customs Act and took both the passengers into custody.
According to the information, a passenger was bringing more than 3 kg of gold from Dubai by hiding it in the boiler part of the coffee machine. Whereas the second passenger was bringing 554 grams of gold paste by tying it to the inner part of his body. But both were caught during scanning. After which the gold was confiscated and he was taken into custody.
One passenger had reached Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport late in the evening by Indigo Airlines flight, while the other by Air India flight. Gold worth more than Rs 2.5 crore has been seized from both of them. During interrogation, both the passengers could not give any information about the gold nor could they present any document. On which action was taken against him.
It is noteworthy that gold smugglers are continuously being caught at Lucknow Airport. Despite this, smugglers have not desisted from trying to bring gold illegally by changing their methods. However, the customs department is ready. As a result of this, smugglers often fall prey to them.
