Delhi Capitals has taken a big decision before IPL 2024. If reports are to be believed, the Delhi team has released Indian batsman Manish Pandey and domestic cricket star Sarfaraz Khan. A big decision was taken by Delhi just before the auction. The Delhi team had finished the tournament at ninth position in the 2023 IPL.
According to news agency PTI, Delhi Capitals has parted ways with Sarfaraz Khan and Manish Pandey i.e. has released them. Manish Pandey, who was struggling with poor form, scored only 160 runs in 10 matches and 9 innings for the team in the 2023 tournament. Manish Pandey has played 170 IPL matches so far, batting in 158 innings, he has scored 3808 runs at an average of 29.07 and strike rate of 120.97. During this period, he has scored 1 century and 22 half-centuries.
Whereas wicketkeeper batsman Sarfaraz Khan, who proved his mettle in domestic cricket, has failed to leave his mark in IPL. He scored only 53 runs in 4 matches for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. In such a situation, due to poor performance, Delhi decided to release him. Sarfaraz has played 50 IPL matches so far in his career, in which he has scored 585 runs in 37 innings at an average of 22.50 and strike rate of 130.58.
IPL 2023 was very bad for Delhi
It is noteworthy that in the absence of Rishabh Pant in IPL 2023, David Warner took command of Delhi Capitals. Under Warner’s captaincy, Delhi team could win only 5 out of 14 matches, after which at the end of the tournament, Delhi team was at 9th position in the points table.
