Lucknow. To increase the trend of using clean fuel and to provide immediate relief from inflation to economically weaker beneficiaries, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday launched a campaign to provide two free LPG cylinders (refills) to women beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. In the function organized at Lok Bhavan, the Chief Minister also symbolically distributed checks of the subsidy amount to 10 beneficiaries. 1.75 crore families of the state will get the benefit of free LPG cylinder and the state government will spend Rs 2,312 crore on subsidy. On the occasion of the launch of the scheme, the subsidy amount for more than 54 lakh families was sent to the accounts of oil companies.
On the occasion of the launch of the scheme, Chief Minister Yogi also mentioned the Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra. Said, before the 2022 assembly elections, we had announced in the public welfare resolution letter to provide free gas cylinders on Diwali and Holi, in the same sequence this scheme is being launched today. The government is giving an amount of Rs 2312 crore for 1.75 crore families.
The Chief Minister advised all the beneficiaries to authenticate Aadhaar to avail the benefits of the scheme. Said, till now only 54 lakh beneficiaries have linked Aadhaar with bank account. He said that the government is currently providing free gas cylinders, this facility will be provided again in February-March. All link your bank account with Aadhaar. Union Minister of State Kaushal Kishore also expressed his views in the program. The Chief Secretary advised the Food and Logistics Department to create an app and run a campaign for Aadhaar verification of the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme. On this occasion, Principal Secretary of Food and Logistics Department Alok Kumar, Commissioner Saurabh Babu and others were present.
Ujjwala scheme saved the lives of many people
Chief Minister Yogi said that the Prime Minister provided clean fuel under the Ujjwala scheme to protect the poor, weak and deprived people from diseases. Free LPG connections were given to 9.60 crore families across the country. About fifty crore people got the benefit of this scheme across the country. In Uttar Pradesh alone, clean fuel was provided to 1.75 crore families. He said that smoke weakens the lungs, those whose lungs were weak during the Corona period died. Ujjwala scheme has saved the lives of many people. On this occasion, he also targeted the previous governments. Said, earlier people used to get LPG connection for Rs 25-30 thousand. There used to be long queues for cooking gas. Today there is no queue for the cylinder and the subsidy amount is also going directly into the account.
