New Delhi. The countdown for the ODI World Cup to be held in India has started and the preparations of all the teams are almost in the final stages. However, even before the start of the tournament, the Sri Lankan team suffered a big blow as the team’s leading all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of this global tournament.
Out of World Cup-
There has been no official announcement from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board yet, but it is considered certain that Hasaranga will not play in the World Cup. Sri Lanka Cricket now has only a few days left for the replacement of Hasaranga.
Out due to injury-
Hasaranga will not be able to play in this tournament starting from October 5 due to hamstring injury. Earlier, he could not participate in the Asia Cup also due to injury. Hasaranga suffered this injury before the final of the Lanka Premier League.
Hasranga’s exit is a big loss-
Hasaranga’s exclusion is also a blow for Sri Lanka because he had been performing well for the team for some time. Even in the World Cup qualification, his role was important. Hasaranga is completely familiar with the Indian environment and was successful in performing well in the IPL as well.
In such a situation, Sri Lanka will miss him in the World Cup. Hasaranga has so far played 48 ODI matches for Sri Lanka and scored 832 runs which includes four half-centuries. Apart from this he has also taken 67 wickets.
