Sex change is a constitutional right: High Court
The Allahabad High Court has held that gender change is a constitutional right and if we deny or accept the inherent right of a person to change his identity in the society, we will only encourage Gender Identity Disorder Syndrome. The court has directed the Director General of Police to dispose of the application filed by a female constable seeking sex change. Along with this, reply has been sought from the UP government on the petition. This order has been given by Justice Ajit Kumar on the petition of Neha Singh. The court said that sometimes such a problem can be fatal, because such a person suffers from disorders, anxiety, depression, negative self-image and dislike towards one’s sexual anatomy. May suffer. If psychological measures fail to alleviate such distress then surgical intervention must be performed.
