New Delhi. The Indian team defeated Australia by 5 wickets in the first ODI. Team India achieved the target of 277 runs given by the Kangaroo team by losing just 5 wickets. Batting first, the Australian team looked to be in a good position at one time, but due to the quick loss of the wickets of Smith and Labuschagne, the entire Kangaroo team collapsed after scoring 276 runs. Labuschagne returned to the pavilion after getting out in a unique manner despite being caught by KL Rahul.
How did Labuschagne get out?
Actually, Marnus Labuschagne was set at the crease after scoring 39 runs and was moving towards playing a big innings. The 33rd over of the Kangaroo innings was going on and the ball was in the hands of Ravichandran Ashwin. Labuschagne tried to play a reverse sweep shot on the fourth ball of Ashwin’s over, but the ball took the inner edge of his bat and went into the gloves of wicketkeeper KL Rahul.
However, Rahul could not catch the catch, but the ball hit Rahul’s pad and hit the stump. Rahul and Ashwin made strong appeals and the decision went to the third umpire. Replays clearly showed that when the ball hit the stump, Labuschagne’s back foot was outside the crease and he was declared out.
Australian batting order flopped
Australia’s batting order flopped badly in the first ODI. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed by Mohammed Shami at the score of just 4 runs. David Warner and Steve Smith then made a partnership of 94 runs for the second wicket, but Warner became the victim of Ravindra Jadeja soon after completing his half-century. While Shami showed Smith the way to the pavilion, Labuschagne’s innings was ended by Ashwin. Josh Inglis contributed 45 runs, but he could not get support from the rest of the batsmen.
