Amroha: Shiv bhakts and police administration came face to face in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that during the Kanwar Yatra, a constable engaged in making arrangements pointed a rifle at a Shiv devotee. This thing spread like fire in the entire Kanwariyas and resentment flourished in all. Police also reached on the information of ruckus and jam.
Due to the allegation on the constable, the police also got confused. The business leader of Saidangali, Shubneet alias Panchu Agarwal, who was leading the group of Shiv devotees, sat on a protest on the road. The road was blocked for about three hours. Meanwhile, the police under the leadership of CO Shwetabh Bhaskar kept trying to persuade them, but they all stuck to the suspension of the constable.
Kanwariyas sat on the road
According to information, the Kavadis of Saidangali area were returning from Brijghat with Ganga water on Sunday to perform Jalabhishek on the last Monday of Sawan. At around six o’clock in the evening, the group of poets reached in front of the Syndicate Bank at Ujhari on the Hasanpur-Sambhal road.
It is alleged that a police constable engaged in making arrangements pointed a rifle while scolding a Kavadia. As soon as this news spread, the Kavadis stopped the yatra and sat on the road protesting. There was a jam in Ujhari from around 6 o’clock.
The matter calmed down after ASP’s intervention
As the matter escalated, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajeev Kumar Singh and SDM Pushkar Nath Chowdhary reached the spot. He assured to take action against the constable, but the Kanwariyas were adamant on their demand to suspend the constable. Circle’s police force was also deployed on the spot.
Later, after getting guidelines from the top officials, the Additional Superintendent of Police suspended the constable Vikrant. After this, the devotees of Shiva have opened the jam around 11 o’clock in the night. CO Shwetabh Bhaskar has confirmed the suspension of the constable.
