New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to earn $1 billion (around Rs 8,200 crore) from the sale of TV and digital rights for 88 domestic matches over the next five years till March 2028. The new cycle consists of 21 home matches against Australia (five Tests, six ODIs and 10 T20Is) and 18 matches against England (10 Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is).
In this period, India has to play a total of 25 Tests, 27 ODIs and 36 T20s. The BCCI had received $944 million (around Rs 6138 crore) from Star India over the 2018 to 2023 cycle, which includes Rs 60 crore per match (digital and TV). This time BCCI will call for separate bids for digital and TV rights.
The board earned Rs 48,390 crore from media rights during the IPL, in which digital rights were bought by Reliance and TV rights by Star TV. Disney-Hotstar and Reliance-Viacom will be the main contenders for India’s domestic matches. Zee can also bid if it merges with Seni TV before the auctions in the first week of September.
