Hardoi: About six people were injured in a leopard attack in Murauli Katheria village under Sandi police station area of Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. A senior official gave this information on Friday.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shashikant Amresh said that about 6 people were injured in the leopard attack on Thursday evening in Murauli Katheria village of Sandi area of the district. The DFO said that a team of the forest department has reached the village and orders have been given to set up cages to capture the leopard. He said the leopard was not seen on Friday after it went missing in the forest. Panic-stricken villagers told reporters that the leopard was sighted in the area on Thursday evening. Ramu Kushwaha, a resident of Murauli Katheria village, was sitting outside while Govind, another villager, was cutting fodder when the leopard was first spotted and before both could react, it pounced on them. When the villagers came to know about the incident and a crowd of people gathered, the leopard entered the hut of Ramswaroop’s wife Ramladaiti.
Villagers said that as the locals tried to drive it out, it attacked several people, injuring four more Bhagwan Sharan, Rakhi Yadav, Rambabu and Usha. Later the village head informed the forest department team and the local police and teams have reached the village. The DFO said that the villagers have been asked to be alert.
