Actually, the 1988 batch IPS officer has been given the responsibility of the post of DGP till the permanent appointment to the post of DGP is not made. According to news agency ANI, RK Vishwakarma comes from 1988 batch IPS. He is expected to take charge from today itself.

Whereas, IPS Dr. R.K. Vishwakarma former DGP D.S. Chouhan took over as the new DGP of UP Police. During this, the new officiating DGP Vishwakarma said that his first priority would be to eliminate mafias from the state, zero tolerance towards crime, technology-oriented policing and serving the citizens.

Got the responsibility of the post of DGP 2 months before retirement

In fact, IPS Raj Kumar Vishwakarma has been given the responsibility of acting DGP just two months before his retirement. Which was to happen in the year 2023.
