Fire broke out in the flat on the seventh floor of Lucknow’s Smriti Apartment

Lucknow: A fire broke out in flat number 707 on the fourth floor of Smriti Apartments on Kursi Road on Friday afternoon. Within no time, the fire took a gigantic form. Due to which the people living above and around the flat started having trouble breathing due to the smoke. People ran down into the open. Firefighters with the help of three vehicles brought the fire under control after about an hour’s effort. No one was injured in the fire. The household kept in the flat was burnt to ashes.

Inspector Gudamba Nitish Kumar Srivaswa told that Neerja Sharma lives in the flat. She shifted to the seventh floor in D Block here two days ago and works in an event company. She was out of town for some work and the flat was locked. Seeing smoke and flames coming out of the flat on Friday afternoon, the people of the neighborhood started making noise. People first tried to control the fire by throwing water.

Seeing the fire becoming uncontrollable, informed the fire brigade. Due to the burning of the household, a cloud of smoke started coming out. The people living in the neighboring and above flats became lightheaded in the smoke. People started having difficulty in breathing. In view of security, people hurriedly came down to the open space in the campus. Fire brigade personnel arrived from Indiranagar, BKT and Chowk. The firemen broke the door and window.

After this, after about an hour’s effort, the fire was controlled. The inspector said that there was no casualty in the fire. The fire was brought under control in time. Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire broke out due to short circuit. People living in the apartment told that there are no arrangements for fire safety here. There are no basic facilities either. Nor is there a proper water system. Complaints were also made to Lavipra VC several times in this regard but no hearing was held.
