Lucknow. On the occasion of Ram Navami, the government gifted promotion to the post of Special DG to six IPS officers of 1990 batch including ADG law and order Prashant Kumar. With this, the process of promotion of all the 1990 batch officers has been completed. In the meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) chaired by Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, ADGs MK Bashal, SK Mathur, Tanuja Srivastava, Anju Gupta, Subhash Chandra and Prashant Kumar were made special DGs.
Soon their promotion orders will be issued. The officers made Special DG will get the pay scale of DG. On the other hand, on the retirement of DG level officers, the officers made Special DG in the order of seniority will be promoted to the post of DG. According to a senior official, the state government may create an ex-cadre post of any pay scale for a period of one year. Under this, this decision was taken on the proposal of DGP Headquarters.
In April, 2022, the DGP Headquarters had sent a proposal to promote the officers of the 1990 batch to the post of Special DG to give them the benefit of promotion. After this, the proposal was sent to the government twice again. There are 14 posts of DG in the state. Half of the 1990 batch officers had already been promoted to the rank of DG. In these, Sandeep Salunke, Renuka Mishra, BK Maurya, SN Sabat, Avinash Chandra and Dr. Sanjay M. Tarde have been promoted from ADG to DG in the past.
Further in the seniority list, six officers from ADG MK Bashal to Prashant Kumar have now been promoted to the post of Special DG. While three officers of the same batch Daljit Singh Chowdhary, Tilotma Verma and Rajeev Ranjan Verma are currently on central deputation. Earlier, during the BSP regime, 1974 batch IPS officer Vikram Singh also became the Special DG. After which he became DG after getting promotion and retired from the post of DGP. In January 2011 also, 12 IPS officers including 1976 batch IPS officer HH Balwaria and 1977 batch Brajlal were made Special DG.
