Chitrakoot. Abbas Ansari, MLA son of Mukhtar Ansari, detained in Banda Jail, has been shifted from Naini Central Jail to Chitrakoot District Jail. Here he has been kept in the high security barrack and strict security arrangements have been made. Abbas Ansari was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case and the court has ordered him to be sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Chitrakoot District Jail Superintendent Ashok Kumar Sagar said that MLA Abbas has been shifted from Naini Central Jail on the orders of the government. Amidst tight security, he was admitted to the jail at around 12:30 on Friday night. He is kept here in the barrack under high security arrangement.
Please inform that MLA Abbas Ansari is the son of Mukhtar Ansari, an incarcerated mafia in Banda Jail. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on November 4. The office was called for questioning in the case of money laundering. On Friday, Abbas Ansari was produced by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Prayagraj district judge’s court, from where he was ordered to be sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Earlier, on November 5 and 12, the court had ordered to keep him in ED custody for a week each. A day before the expiry of this period, the ED had filed an application seeking extension of judicial custody for 14 days. Abbas Ansari’s counsel protested but the case pertains to the Economic Offenses Wing.
District Jail became the home of two MLAs
Many dacoits and dreaded criminals are lodged in Chitrakoot Jail, but now it has also become a place for people’s representatives. Now two MLAs are detained in this jail. Prior to Abbas Ansari, SP MLA Nahid Hasan from Kairana assembly seat in Shamli has also been shifted here from Muzaffarnagar.
