Lakhimpur. In Dhakia village under Bhira police station area, five girls drowned in the water due to the bursting of river Sharda. In this, two girls died on the spot, while the condition of three is normal at present. After the incident, there has been an uproar among the families of the deceased girls. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the village due to the death of two girls.
The incident is from Dhakia village of Bhira police station area. Here on Sunday morning, Poonam Devi (12-year-old) daughter Ishwar, who was the only sister among her two brothers, was also the only one of her two brothers, while Shivani (13-year-old) daughter Kamlesh Kumar, a resident of the village. Both the girls along with their other three friends had gone to remove soil on the banks of Sharda river flowing near the village.
She was taking out the soil when suddenly the khad (soil on the banks of the river) burst and got buried in it. On seeing this, people working in the nearby fields informed other villagers. In a hurry, villagers along with family members reached the spot. After a lot of effort, those five girls were pulled out.
In this, Poonam died on the spot and Shivani was taken to Bijua Community Health Center in an injured condition, where doctors declared her brought dead. The condition of the other three is normal. The sudden death of two girls has created an atmosphere of sensation in the entire area. There is a gloomy atmosphere in the village along with the family. On getting information about the incident, Bhira police reached the spot and started necessary action.
