Kanpur. Another case of insensitivity of Kanpur Outer Police has come to light. In Shivrajpur, a young man raped a Scheduled Caste girl by dragging her to the field and left in a shambles and fled. When the victim relatives reached the police station with a complaint, instead of writing a report and arresting the accused, the police kept the pressure of compromise for four hours. A case was registered after the matter came to the notice of the officers late in the night.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 15-year-old teenager had gone towards the farm in a village on the banks of the Ganges area of Shivrajpur. It is alleged that Avnish Pal, who was already present there, grabbed the girl and forcibly took her to the fields and raped her. Threatening to kill him, he ran away leaving the girl in an inebriated condition.
After some time, after recovering, the girl reached home and narrated her ordeal, then the ground slipped from under her mother’s feet. She sat down with her hand on her forehead and then told the whole incident to the family members. After this, the victim’s family reached the police station late in the evening and asked them to register a case.
The relatives allege that on the complaint, instead of writing a report and catching the accused, the beat in-charge gave a backlash and pressured the settlement by sitting in the police station for four hours. The matter reached the authorities late in the night, after which a case was registered at 10 pm.
CO Bilhaur Rajesh Kumar said that a case was registered against Avneesh Pal, accused on the father’s complaint, under other sections including rape, POCSO Act, SC-ST Act. Efforts are on to arrest the accused. The victim girl could not get medical in the night, now she has been sent for medical on Wednesday morning. The allegation of making the victim’s relatives sit in the police station for four hours is wrong.
