Lucknow. Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra has given strict instructions to expedite the work of providing water connections for pure drinking water supply. It has been said that the recovery of monthly bills should also be ensured regularly, so that the repair work should also be done.
In the review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission, the Chief Secretary also directed some women belonging to self-help groups in rural areas to be trained in water quality testing as well as training for plumber and solar related works. Said that with this, problems like repair, leakage will be solved at the local level only.
The Chief Secretary also directed to get the pending NOC under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme at the earliest with mutual coordination. Along with this, the officials of the Electricity Department were directed to provide electricity connections for piped drinking water schemes under construction at the earliest.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary, Namami Gange Anurag Srivastava informed that under Jal Jeevan Mission, 45 lakh 29 thousand 898 families have been provided with function household tap connections till September 15, 2022. In Bundelkhand and Vindhyachal, water connections have been provided to 70 percent of the households against the target.
Apart from this, 151 NOCs are required from the Railway Department, out of which 130 NOCs have been obtained. Similarly, 201 NOCs are required from the Forest Department, out of which 156 have been received. Eight NOCs have been obtained from National Highways Authority of India, 343 from Public Works Department and 227 from Irrigation Department.
Efforts are being made to get the pending NOCs pending in these departments soon. All 33 NOCs have been received from the UP State Highway Authority. Balkar Singh, Managing Director of Jal Nigam (Rural) and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
