Lucknow: In Babuganj, 57-year-old regional forest officer Sheela Gupta was murdered by slitting her throat on Friday morning. The police arrested Sheela’s husband on the charge of murder and also recovered the knife used in the crime from him. The police claim that the husband killed himself with a knife in a dispute over money.
Inspector Hassanganj Atul Kumar Srivastava said that originally Sheela Gupta, a resident of Ranibazar in Ayodhya, was an officer in the headquarters of the Forest Department located at Hazratganj Narhi here. The family lived in a rented house in Babuganj. On Friday morning at around 7 am, Sheela was getting up and doing her household chores. Daughter Vaishnavi and son-in-law Satyendra Kumar were sleeping in the room.
Meanwhile, a dispute started with Sheela’s husband Basant. A fight started between the two. Basant hurriedly latched the daughter and son-in-law’s room from outside. After this he slit Sheela’s throat with a knife and ran outside. Hearing the noise, the people of the neighborhood ran, they caught Basant and handed him over to the police after beating him fiercely.
On the other hand, when the neighbors reached the house, Sheela was suffering in a blood-soaked condition.
