Pilibhit. In Jehanabad, a firecracker had illegally stored firecrackers and fireworks in his house. It suddenly caught fire at 3 pm on Tuesday. Due to which there was a huge explosion and the two-storey house collapsed. This caused an outcry in the whole neighborhood.
The people of the locality started extinguishing the fire from the nearby pond. Simultaneously, three daughters of fireworks were taken out from the rubble and taken to the hospital. All three were being taken to Bareilly in critical condition, two sisters died on the way, while the third sister died during treatment. District Magistrate Pulkit Khare and Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar P also took stock of the accident site.
There is a two-storey house of fireworker Azim Baig in the Mohalla Mishran Tola of Jehanabad town. He holds a license to make fireworks. For this, a warehouse has been set up on Richha Road, far away from the population area. Along with this, crackers, fireworks were illegally stocked in the house.
When a sudden explosion took place at around 3 pm on Tuesday, the family members ran outside but three daughters of the fireworks Nagma (20), Sania (18) and Nisha (16) remained inside. All three of them got scorched by the fire as well as got grievously injured in the rubble. The people of the locality somehow rescued the three sisters from the rubble and took them to the district hospital.
The police station reached the spot about an hour after the accident. It is said that Azim Baig was at his warehouse at the time of the accident. His brother Naseem Baig was sitting on his paan kiosk in the market. Azim’s mother Afsari Begum, wife Feroze Begum, both sons Tajim and Tasleem as well as the eldest daughter Uzzama saved their lives by running out of the house as soon as the blast took place.
After getting information about this big accident, SP Dinesh Kumar P, ASP Dr. Pavitra Mohan Tripathi, CO Sadar Lallan Singh etc. also reached the spot and inquired about the whole matter. Due to this explosion, the window of neighboring Irfan’s house, the tile of Kadir Baig’s house collapsed.
On the other hand, after giving first aid to the three sisters in the district hospital, seeing their condition critical, they were referred to Bareilly. Two sisters died on the way, while the third one died in Bareilly after treatment. He had illegally kept twenty-five packets of fireworks in his house for sale.
Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar P said that the house was damaged due to a sudden fire on Tuesday afternoon. Three daughters of the fireworks were seriously burnt in the accident. Later all three died. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Fire Officer II Akash Kumar said that prima facie investigation found that fireworks related material was kept inside that house. Fireworks Azim was questioned about the license, he said that all the papers were buried under the rubble due to the collapse of the house. However, he has given information about the license number. On Wednesday, after going to the spot and investigating the whole matter in depth, action will be recommended.
