New Delhi. England team’s Test captain and all-rounder Ben Stokes will enter ODI cricket for the last time on Tuesday. His last match will be against South Africa which will be played in his home town Durham. On Monday evening, he surprised the entire cricket world by announcing his retirement from ODI cricket. He had shared this information through social media that now he is feeling unable to carry all the three formats of cricket together. When Ben Stokes became the England team world champion in 2019, he became the ‘Player of the Match’ in that match. He played an unbeaten innings of 82 runs in that match.
Stokes will enter the last match
When England face South Africa in the first match of the 3-match ODI series, they would like to bid farewell to their Test captain with a win. Not only this, in this last match, Ben Stokes would like him to finish his ODI career with a good innings. The recent series played against India was not good for him. He scored only 48 runs in 3 innings of 3 matches and bowled only 3 overs.
Former England captain’s question on busy schedule
Former England captain Nasser Hussain has questioned Ben Stokes’ sudden retirement announcement and the reasons behind it. He said that the ICC needs to rethink about the busy schedule. Players like Ben Stokes are forcibly retiring from ODI cricket due to busy schedules.
Ben Stokes wrote in his post on Monday that he now wants to give a chance to other players who can give their 100 percent to Jos Buttler and the England team because they are not able to do so.
