Shravasti. The river is in spate due to the rain water coming into the Rapti river on Saturday morning on the mountains of Nepal. More than 12 coastal villages are surrounded by flood waters. The trouble of the leagues has increased due to water entering many villages. Gradually, the water level of the river is decreasing, due to which people are feeling relief.
The water level of the Rapti river started rising rapidly on Saturday afternoon after torrential rains lashed the hills. The water level of the river rose from the danger mark of 127.70 to 128.55 cm at around 12 pm. The river was flowing 85 cm above the danger mark. The river overflowed as the water level rose. Due to this, the coastal villages of Jamunha area are Baranga, Salaru Purva, Virpur, Piprahwa, Hariharpur, Karanpur, Jogia, Bhaluhia, Shamshergarh, Dhobiha, Laxmanpur, Semarhaniya, Pondla, Pondli, Bhagwanpur, Domai, Badi Bagh, Raghunathpur, Vishambharpur, Hariharpur, Shankarpur. Flood water entered in Shahpur Kala, Badal Purwa, Atarpari villages of the area.
Seeing the flood situation, there was a stir among the people of the village. People started searching for a safe place. People heaved a sigh of relief after the water receded on Sunday morning. The water level dropped to 127.80 cm at 7 am. Still many villages are surrounded by flood water. Moving ahead from Jamunha and Hariharpurani areas, floods are knocking in the Ikauna tehsil area.
Administration issued alert: With the rise in the water level of the river, the administration has issued an alert. People of coastal villages have been appealed to remain alert and take precautions.
Flood posts activated: District Magistrate Neha Prakash said that all flood posts have been activated. The water level of the river is being continuously monitored. Every effort is being made to ensure that there is no loss of public and money in the event of floods.
