New Delhi: In the 41st match of the Indian Premier League, Delhi defeated Kolkata by 4 wickets at the Wankhede ground. Delhi needed 147 runs to win, which they made with 6 balls to spare. For Delhi, David Warner made 42 and Powell played a brilliant innings of 33 runs. Earlier, Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first. Eran Finch and Venkatesh Iyer opened the innings for Kolkata, but both were soon dismissed. Kolkata scored 146 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in front of Delhi with the help of Nitish Rana’s half-century and Shreyas Iyer’s 42.
Good innings from Delhi, Warner and Powell
Chasing the target of 147 runs, the start was not good for Delhi, and they lost the wicket of Prithvi Shaw on the first ball of the innings. He was caught by Umesh Yadav on his own ball. Delhi got the second blow in the form of Marsh. He was caught by Harshit Rana in the hands of Venkatesh. He scored 13 runs. Delhi got the third blow in the form of Warner. He missed a half-century and was caught by Umesh on a score of 42 runs to Narine. Lalit Yadav got out on the last ball of the 11th over. He was dismissed LBW by Naren. In the very next ball, Delhi lost the wicket of Captain Pant. He was caught by Umesh in the hands of Indrajit. He could only score 2 runs. Axar Patel was run out for the sixth wicket. He batted in 24 runs over the course of an inning.
Kolkata’s innings, Nitish Rana’s half-century
Eran Finch and Venkatesh Iyer opened the innings for Kolkata, but Chetan Sakariya, debuting for Delhi in the third ball of the second over, cleaned them up. He scored 3 runs. Kolkata got the second blow in the form of Venkatesh Iyer. He was caught by Axar Patel at the hands of Chetan Sakariya for a score of 6 runs. Baba Inderjit, who was debuting as the third wicket, got out. He scored 6 runs. He was caught by Kuldeep at the hands of Pavel.
Kuldeep also dismissed Sunil Narine in the same over. Kolkata got the fifth blow in the form of captain Iyer, Kuldeep got him caught by Pant for a score of 42 runs. Kuldeep also stumped Russell in the same over. They could not even open the account. Mustafizur got Rinku Singh caught by Pavel for the 7th wicket. He scored 23 runs. The 8th blow came in the form of Nitish Rana. He scored 57 runs. He was caught by Mustafizur at the hands of Chetan Sakaria. On the very next ball, he clean bowled Southee.

Delhi has two, while Kolkata’s team entered this match with 3 changes. Delhi brought in Chetan Sakaria and Mitchell Marsh in place of Khaleel Ahmed and Sarfaraz, while Kolkata brought in Baba Inderjit, Eran Finch and Harshit Rana.
