In reply, Kolkata finally achieved the target of victory for the loss of 5 wickets in just 16 overs on the basis of Pat Cummins’s stormy half-century innings.
Mumbai’s team suffered its third consecutive defeat in the tournament this season. Batting first, after a poor start, the team scored 161 for 4 on the basis of Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant half-century innings. Coming in the last, Kieron Pallard took the score beyond 160 by playing a fiery innings of 22 runs in just 5 balls. But this innings of the team was faded by a player from Kolkata.
Pat Cummins stormy fifty
Kolkata fast bowler Pat Cummins played an innings that made his name in the batting record of IPL history. This player completed his half-century against Mumbai in just 14 balls. During this innings, Pat got 4 fours and 6 sixes with the bat. With this innings, he equaled KL Rahul in terms of scoring the fastest half-century in IPL history.
Fastest Fifty in IPL History
Playing for Punjab, KL Rahul completed fifty runs in just 14 balls against Delhi in the year 2018. It was the fastest fifty in IPL history. Cummins did the same feat in 2022 and scored a half-century off 14 balls. Playing for Kolkata, Yusuf Pathan scored a 15-ball fifty against Hyderabad in 2014. Sunil Narine of Kolkata also holds the record of making a fifty off 15 balls.
