Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has reinstated Abhishek Dixit, a 2006 batch IPS officer suspended on serious charges of corruption, after nearly one and a half years. It has been decided to send Abhishek Dixit, the then SSP of Prayagraj, to his native cadre Tamil Nadu. The Home Department has ordered their release. He will be leaving on Tuesday.
The then SSP of Prayagraj, Abhishek Dixit was suspended on 8 September 2020 on serious charges of corruption. He came here on deputation. After the suspension, the departmental inquiry against him was handed over to the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) of Lucknow Commissionerate, Nilabja Choudhary.
During his tenure as SSP Prayagraj, IPS Abhishek Dixit was facing serious allegations of corruption regarding the transfer and posting of subordinate policemen. Along with this, there were complaints against him for non-compliance with the instructions of the Police Headquarters and laxity in work. Vigilance inquiry was also ordered against him, in which he was found guilty of committing departmental irregularities. Vigilance had recommended departmental action against him in its report submitted to the government.
