Lucknow. The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, which began on February 10, are on in 2022 and will end after the seventh phase of polling on Monday. In the seventh phase, polling will be held in nine districts of Purvanchal from 7 am to 6 pm, although the polling time in Naxal-affected Sonbhadra and some assembly constituencies of Chandauli district is from 7 am to 4 pm.
The last phase i.e. seventh phase of polling will be held in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Voting will be held in 54 assembly seats in nine districts in this phase. In which PM Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi is also included. In the seventh and final phase, voting will be held in Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Mau, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Chandauli. After the seventh phase, everyone will be waiting for March 10, the day the results of the elections will come. 613 candidates are in the fray in the 54 assembly constituencies of the seventh phase and their fate will be decided by 2.06 crore voters. In the last election (2017), out of these 54 seats, BJP had won 29, SP 11, BSP six, Apna Dal (S) four, SubhaSP three and Nishad Party one. This time Nishad Party and Apna Dal (S) are with BJP, but Suheldev Bahujan Samaj Party has an alliance with Samajwadi Party.
Seven ministers of the state government are in the fray and their litmus test is to be held on March 7. Of these, there are three ministers in Varanasi itself. In order to win these ministers, a large number of national and regional level leaders took command from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
Seven ministers are in the fray in the seventh phase, a cabinet, two ministers of state (independent charge) and four ministers of state. In these, Backward Classes Welfare Minister Anil Rajbhar is trying his luck again from the Shivpur seat of Varanasi. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Stamps and Registration Ravindra Jaiswal Varanasi North, Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Neelkanth Tiwari Varanasi South, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Planning Girish Yadav Jaunpur, Minister of State for Energy Ramashankar Singh Patel election from Madihan seat of Mirzapur are fighting. Minister of State Sangeeta Balwant is in the fray from Sadar in Ghazipur and Sanjeev Gond from Obra in Sonbhadra. Dara Singh Chauhan, who was the Forest and Environment Minister, has left the BJP and joined the Samajwadi Party after resigning from the ministerial post after the announcement of the Vidhan Sabha elections. He is a Samajwadi Party candidate from Mau’s Ghosi seat.
