Lucknow. In the second phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022, the campaigning for 55 seats in 9 districts will end at 6 pm on Saturday. Polling for this phase will be held on February 14 from 7 am to 6 pm. In this, more than two crore voters will decide the fate of 586 candidates. The reputation of several veteran leaders, including five ministers, is at stake in this phase. At the same time, the Election Commission also took stock of the preparations by video conferencing with the observers of the districts of the second phase.
Voting will be held in Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Sambhal, Rampur, Amroha, Badaun, Bareilly and Shahjahanpur in the second phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The Election Commission is busy preparing to conduct the elections by adopting the methods of fair, free, transparent and prevention from Corona. On Friday also, the commission gave necessary guidelines by doing video conferencing with the officers associated with this district. On Saturday also, the commission will test the preparations by video conferencing with the DMs of these districts.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Brahmdev Ram Tiwari told that the campaigning for the second phase of elections will end at 6 pm on Saturday. After this, the public representatives will not be able to campaign. He said that the voting will be held on February 14 from 7 am to 6 pm. Special arrangements have been made at each polling booth for the convenience of voters and protection from Kovid. Instructions have been given to make proper and necessary arrangements at each polling booth so that voters do not face any kind of problem.
These veteran leaders in the election fray: Finance Minister Suresh Khanna from Shahjahanpur seat in the second phase, Baldev Singh Aulakh, Minister of State for Jal Shakti from Bilaspur, Mahesh Chandra Gupta, Minister of State for Urban Development from Badaun, Gulab Devi, Minister of State for Secondary Education from Chandausi, besides Minister of State for AYUSH. Dr. Dharam Singh Saini, who has now joined the SP, is trying his luck from the Nakur seat. Apart from this, former minister Mohd. Azam Khan is in the fray from Rampur and his son Abdullah Azam is from Swar seat. Haider Ali Khan alias Hamza Mian is trying his luck from this seat from Apna Dal Sonelal, a BJP ally. He is the grandson of former MP Noor Bano. Former minister Iqbal Mehmood from Sambhal to SP ticket and Mehboob Ali, former minister from Amroha, are also in the fray with cycle symbol. Recently, former mayor Supriya Aron is contesting from Bareilly Cantt who joined SP.
