Lucknow. The campaigning for the first phase of polling to be held on February 10 for the formation of the Eighteenth Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh came to an end at 6 pm on Tuesday. In the first phase, 58 seats in 11 districts of western Uttar Pradesh and Braj region will go to polls on Thursday. The districts where polling will be held in the first phase are Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Agra.
The campaigning for 58 seats in the first phase in UP came to an end at 6 pm on Tuesday. 623 candidates are in the fray for these seats in 11 districts of western UP, polling will be held on February 10 and counting will be held on March 10. In the first phase, nominations for 58 assembly seats in 11 districts were held till January 21. Of these, nine seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes. Voting will be held on February 10 from 7 am to 6 pm. Tight security arrangements have also been made during the election process. Along with taking extra vigilance, there are instructions to keep a close watch on mischievous elements.
Maximum candidates on these two seats: A total of 623 candidates are in the fray in the first phase, while 810 candidates had filed their nominations for this phase. Maximum 15-15 candidates are in Muzaffarnagar and Mathura seats. At least five candidates are in Iglas (Reserved) seat of Aligarh. In the last assembly elections, out of 58 seats in the first phase, 53 were won by BJP, two each by SP and BSP and one by Rashtriya Lok Dal.
Nine ministers of Yogi government will be tested: In the first phase, nine ministers of Yogi government will also be tested. These include Sugar Industry and Sugarcane Minister Suresh Rana, Livestock Minister Laxmi Narayan Choudhary, Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education and Skill Development Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of State for Health Atul Garg, Minister of State for Finance and Medical Education Sandeep Singh, Society. Minister of State for Welfare GS Dharmesh, Minister of State for Forests Anil Sharma and Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Flood Control Dinesh Khatik are involved. Avtar Singh Bhadana, who played a long innings in politics, Chaudhary Babu Lal and Baby Rani Maurya, who was the Governor of Uttarakhand, will also be tested in the first phase. On the last day, all the political parties threw their strength on the last day of campaigning for the first phase. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held public meetings in support of BJP candidates in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya in Muzaffarnagar. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Vadra sought votes for party candidates in Meerut, Agra and Mathura. RLD President Jayant Chaudhary mobilized public support in Aligarh and Hapur, while Subhaspa President Omprakash Rajbhar reached Meerut.
Tight guard of 800 company para military force: Police has almost completed its preparations to make the first phase of polling fair and peaceful. The paramilitary force will be tightly guarded at 10833 polling booths in 58 assembly constituencies. Around 800 company paramilitary forces will be deployed at sensitive places besides polling booths. Along with this, police, PAC and home guard personnel will also be ready. DGP Mukul Goyal directed for continuous monitoring of internet media along with taking every small and big dispute seriously and taking prompt action.
Internet media monitoring increased as soon as the campaign stopped: With the campaigning of the first phase coming to a halt, the police have increased their preparedness to conduct peaceful polling. The internet media in particular is being double monitored. Apart from keeping an eye on the viral messages on the internet media, the police is also increasing its communication through WhatsApp groups. Police is also using special keywords to monitor objectionable and misleading messages. Now February 10 and March 10 and some other such special keywords have also been included in this list. A separate team has been formed to monitor objectionable and misleading messages and videos at the social media center located at the DGP headquarters. Complaints related to violation of election code of conduct are being shared with the Election Commission. Along with this, the exchange of information has been increased on WhatsApp groups formed at the police station and police post level in the districts.
Voting in these seats in the first phase: Kairana, Thana Bhawan, Shamli, Budhana, Charthaval, Purkaji (Reserved), Muzaffarnagar, Khatauli, Meerapur, Siwalkhas, Sardhana, Hastinapur (Reserved), Kithor, Meerut Cantonment, Meerut, Meerut South, Chhaprauli, Baraut, Baghpat, Loni, Muradnagar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, Dhaulana, Hapur (Reserved), Garhmukteshwar, Noida, Dadri, Jewar, Secunderabad, Siana, Anupshahr, Dibai, Shikarpur, Khurja (Reserved), Khair (Reserved), Barauli . Khairagarh, Fatehabad, Bah are seats.
