The youths who opened fire on the car of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi have argued that they carried out the attack after being hurt by the Ayodhya case and provocative speeches against a particular religion. It is worth mentioning that some chaotic elements targeted Owaisi’s car near Chhijarsi toll plaza in Pilkhua area of Hapur district on Thursday evening when he was going to Delhi after doing public relations in Kithor town of Meerut. Taking quick action in this case, the police arrested one of the attackers while another surrendered at Singhani Gate police station in Ghaziabad.
State Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said on Friday that youths named Shubham and Sachin, who opened fire on Owaisi’s car, have been arrested by the police. Each pastille has been recovered from their possession. A case has been registered against the youths arrested on the complaint of Owaisi’s representative Yameen Khan under section 307 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other sections at Pilkhua police station in Hapur. During interrogation, the youths have confessed to their crime, arguing that Owaisi had made inflammatory speeches against a particular religion, while during 2013-14, he was hurt by the remarks he made in anger about the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The firing incident took place.
Kumar said that the incident is being investigated and senior officials are camping on the spot. It is worth mentioning that after the firing incident, Owaisi had tweeted saying that some time ago shots were fired at my car at Chhijarsi toll gate. 4 rounds fired. There were 3-4 people, all of them ran away and left the weapons there. My car got punctured, but I got out in another car and left. We are all safe. Alhamdullah.
After the incident, the police scanned the video footage of the toll plaza and arrested a youth named Sachin, a resident of Badalpur area of Noida in this case, while another youth, Shubham, surrendered at Singhani Gate police station in Ghaziabad late in the evening.
