Lucknow. The path of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Apna Dal (Communist), who went ahead with a hand to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), seems to be parting since they reached the election fray. Expressing displeasure over not getting desired seats, Apna Dal (Communist) has decided not to contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The ticket of Pallavi Patel, who was declared as SP candidate against BJP candidate and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu, has been returned by her husband and party’s national general secretary Pankaj Niranjan Patel. Earlier, Pankaj, who had returned seven tickets from the alliance to the SP, himself admitted that he could not coordinate the seats.
While the BJP has tied up with Apna Dal (S) led by Anupriya Patel, SP President Akhilesh Yadav has tied up with Apna Dal (Kamarawadi) led by Anupriya’s mother Krishna Patel. Krishna Patel’s party had recently announced its candidates for seven seats. These included Pindra of Varanasi, Rohaniya, Madiyahu of Jaunpur, Madihan of Mirzapur, Ghoraval of Sonbhadra, Sadar of Pratapgarh and Allahabad West seat of Prayagraj.
According to sources, the SP had expressed displeasure over this decision of Apna Dal. However, on Wednesday itself, Pallavi Patel, daughter of Krishna Patel and sister of Union Minister Anupriya Patel, was declared by the SP as the candidate against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu seat, but Apna Dal expressed unhappiness about the seats getting in the alliance. Have also decided not to fight on the seat.
Pankaj Niranjan Patel, national general secretary of Apna Dal Kameravadi, says that his party was unable to balance seats with the SP. SP is a big party, they have too many leaders. They do not have any problem regarding the seats, so they have decided not to contest the elections. He made it clear that despite not contesting the elections, Apna Dal will continue to support the Kameravadi SP.
Pankaj told that he has conveyed the matter of his party to the SP leadership through proper channel, now the decision has to be taken by the SP. He told that earlier there was an agreement with the SP on 16 seats. Under this, seven seats were announced in the first phase. At the same time, SP’s chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary says that this matter is not in his knowledge.
