In Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, the Income Tax Department has started custodial interrogation of perfume trader and Samajwadi Party (SP) Legislative Council Member (MLC) Pushpraj Jain alias ‘Pumpy’ in connection with tax evasion on Monday. Raids are going on for the last four days at Pushpraj Jain’s residence and other places in Kannauj. According to sources, the Income Tax Department team took Pushparaj Jain into custody on Monday morning. After this he was brought to Kanpur.
If sources are to be believed, the team of Income Tax Department has taken Pampi to his residence Ratan Presidency residence located at Rani Ghat crossroads in Kanpur. Income tax raids are still going on with the questioning of Pumpi and his brother Atul Jain. It is understood that the flat located in Ratan Presidency, the residential society where the Income Tax Department team has reached with Pumpi, belongs to his younger brother Atul Jain and it was sealed recently. Sources said that in the investigation so far, the Income Tax Department has found fake purchase bills of Rs 10 crore of Pumpi and documents of bogus entry of 10 crores. They are being investigated.
Let us tell you that on the third day, the Income Tax Department has received documents of fake purchase of ten crore rupees and bogus entry of ten crore rupees from the premises of SP MLC Pushpraj Jain, these are being investigated. Earlier, investment papers of about Rs 40 crore were found from the Middle East. The Income Tax Department had raided 35 premises of Pampi Jain and Malik Group in Kanpur, Kannauj, Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai and Hathras. Till Sunday, 23 campuses including Kanpur and Lucknow were investigated. Investigation is still going on at 12 more places.
