New Delhi. Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli had announced his resignation from the captaincy of this format even before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup. On Tuesday, the BCCI appointed Rohit Sharma as the new captain of the T20 team in his place. He will fulfill this responsibility from the upcoming series to be played with New Zealand. Former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has spoken of Virat’s retirement from T20 cricket.
Mushtaq said on Pakistan’s TV channel, “When a successful captain says he wants to leave the captaincy, it clearly means that everything is not going well in the dressing room. At the moment I see two groups in the dressing room of the Indian team. One is from Mumbai and the other is from Delhi. ”
The ICC T20 World Cup was Virat’s last T20 tournament as captain but he was disappointed. The team lost the first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. Due to these two defeats, the team was eliminated from the first round. In the last three matches, India defeated Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia.
“It seems to me that Kohli will soon retire from playing for his country in T20 Internationals. By the way, he will continue to play for his franchise team in the Indian Premier League. Things have to be done. ”
Earlier, during the World Cup, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had also said that Team India would be divided into two parts. He said that Virat made a mistake by saying that he would leave the captaincy before the tournament. He should not have done so, because of this his respect among the players has decreased. At present, the team seems to be divided into two camps.
