Angry relatives created a ruckus over the non-registration of a case in the case of death of a prisoner Shivam, who was injured due to bullet injuries during a disturbance in the jail, while carrying Saifai. His body was cremated on the assurance of the authorities to register a case. The officers stood by the police force during the cremation at the ghat.
Shivam Singh, 22-year-old son of Munnalal Rathore, resident of village Jainapur under Rajepur police station area, was lodged in the district jail since 2017 in a theft case. On Sunday, Shivam Singh was shot during a disturbance in the district jail Fatehgarh. Shivam remained in jail for a long time. After the disturbance calmed down, the police sent him to Lohia Hospital. Seeing the condition critical after first aid there, Uttar Pradesh Medical Sciences University was sent to Saifai. He died there during treatment. Shivam’s body was brought to the village at 4 am on Monday after the post-mortem was conducted in the night itself. During this, Rajesh Kumar Gautam, Rajepur Police Station, explained to the relatives to cremate Shivam’s dead body. After that the relatives reached Ramganga Ghat at six in the morning with the dead body. There Shivam’s cousin Kaushal Singh refused to perform the last rites without registering a case. During this, the villagers started creating ruckus at the ghat. On this information, Sub-Collector Amritpur Preeti Tiwari, Circle Officer Ajay Sharma, SDM Sadar Sanjay Singh, Farrukhabad in-charge Inspector Vinod Kumar Shukla reached there with the police force. The officials tried to convince the relatives, but the relatives said that the officials are misleading. Earlier it was told that the post-mortem would be done in the morning, but in the absence of relatives, the post-mortem was done in the night itself. The relatives said that they will not perform the last rites without registering a case. On this, Circle Officer Ajay Sharma assured to register a case in relation to the incident only on the basis of Tahrir. The relatives performed the last rites at 10 o’clock on the assurance of the officers to file a case. The officials heaved a sigh of relief after the last rites were performed.
