Gorakhpur. A fire broke out in Falmandi late Thursday night. As a result of which more than one crore rupees worth of fruits and vegetables kept in 19 shops were burnt. Eight fire engines overcame the fire after four hours of hard work. The traders, angry over the incident, blocked the Gorakhpur-Lucknow highway at 8.30 am on Friday demanding compensation. Finished.

Vishal Kumar-Ranjit Kumar & Co., Roshan Kumar-Vivek Kumar & Company and Siddhi Vinayak Agro firm at Falmandi at 12.30 pm on Thursday night, seeing the flames coming out, the watchman gave information to the shopkeepers along with dial 112. By the time the team of local police and fire brigade reached, 20 shops came under fire. Apples, oranges, pears, pomegranates, pineapples, potatoes and onions kept in shops were burnt. The fire was so fierce that it took four hours to extinguish the eight fire engines. As soon as the fire was reported in the market, hundreds of traders and police officers rushed to the spot. Chief Fire Officer DK Singh said that the cause of the fire is being investigated. Losses are being assessed by taking information from traders.
Merchants were preparing for Chhath, the whole shop was full
Traders said that because of Chhath festival, they had ordered fruits from outside a day before. Customers were coming to shop from Friday morning, so they ordered fruits in advance. But all of a sudden the fire burned everything. The employees had also gone home because of Diwali, so nothing was left.
The government demands compensation from traders
The traders of Falmandi demand that their accumulated capital was lost in this accident. Along with the goods, the laser book kept in the shop was also burnt in which the account of the transaction was kept. The state government should solve their problem as well as provide compensation according to the loss. So that their business can run.
