After giving big financial help to the family of the farmers who died in the Lakhimpur Khiri violence, the Congress is now at the house of the dead farmer in Lalitpur. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi met the aggrieved farmer families in Lalitpur, Bundelkhand and shared their grief.
Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Lalitpur on Friday morning by train from Lucknow on Thursday night and went straight to the house of dead farmer Bhogi Pal. During this time, he talked to the family of the deceased farmer and inquired about his condition. Priyanka has also assured all possible help while consoling the family. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Pradeep Jain Aditya was also with Priyanka on her visit today.
Meanwhile, he said that the farmers standing in line had died due to the shortage of manure due to the mismanagement of the Uttar Pradesh government. Troubled by not getting compost, a farmer had committed suicide. All the farmers had taken huge loans for farming and were being burdened with debts due to government policies. The problems of farmers are increasing due to non-receipt of fertilizer, non-receipt of compensation and crop wastage.
Priyanka said that in Uttar Pradesh, there is less compost in the sacks. The price of compost has also been increased. What will the farmers do? They have a lot of problems, but the Uttar Pradesh government is not listening to them. Farmers in the country have been on the streets for months. In some places, they are being trampled by vehicles. The government has completely failed. The government has completely denied the farmers. This is not only the problem of 4 families but this is the problem of the whole of Bundelkhand.
Kisan Bhogi Pal, a resident of Naya village in Jakhlaun police station area of Lalitpur district, had died recently. He was waiting his turn at the compost shop. Lines had been standing outside a fertilizer store in Jugpura for two days. During this time he died of a heart attack. There is a crisis of manure in Lalitpur district and the farmers had protested there only in the last few days.
The farmer had attempted suicide due to lack of compost
In Lalitpur itself, a farmer in Rondha village of the tehsil of the district had tried to commit suicide in protest of not getting compost. The farmer alleged that the farmers are not getting manure on Rondha Cooperative Society and this is causing damage to the crop. Farmer Shyamlal (50) had tried to commit suicide by hanging due to non-availability of compost, but the farmers saved him.
Priyanka met coolies in Lucknow
Earlier, Congress general secretary Vadra met porters at Charbagh railway station in Lucknow on his way from Lucknow to Lalitpur on Thursday night. The porters told him about the problems related to their livelihood, to which Priyanka assured all possible help. Later, Priyanka left for Lalitpur by train.
