The SIT had pasted the Safina notice at the residence of Ankit Das, nephew of former Union Minister Akhilesh Das, who was accused in the Lakhimpur cucumber case, at Sadar Purana Qila, Lucknow. The SIT has ordered Ankit Das to record his statement at the crime branch office in Lakhimpur on Wednesday. Meanwhile Ankit Das reached Lakhimpur Kheri. He surrendered before the SIT. After which he and his driver Latif were arrested. He is being questioned at the Crime Branch office located at Police Lines. The SIT is also questioning his driver Latif. After the minister’s son Ashish Mishra Monu in the Lakhimpur violence, Shekhar Bharti, the driver of his friend Ankit Das, was arrested by the SIT on Tuesday. Apart from this, farmers have named 15 unknown people along with Ashish Mishra Monu in the case.
Argument over driver Shekhar Bharti: Meanwhile, Shekhar Bharti, the driver of Ankit Das, accused of Lakhimpur violence case, has been presented in the court. The CJM heard the police custody remand, SPO SP Yadav from the prosecution side and Awadhesh Kumar Singh on behalf of the accused argued in the matter. Arguments have been held from both the sides and the decision has been reserved. Meanwhile, a large number of advocates have come to the Lucknow High Court in Lakhimpur. More than 25 advocates have reached Lakhimpur. It is believed that all these have come to surrender to Ankit Das. There is news that Ankit Das can be brought directly in front of DIG Upendra Agarwal, in-charge of SIT, but no confirmation has been made yet.
In the case of four farmers killed in the Lakhimpur incident, a case has been registered against Ankit in other sections including conspiracy, murder, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rioting. In the case, Ankit’s car driver Shekhar was arrested by the SIT from Palia bus stand on Tuesday. It is being told that he was trying to escape to Nepal. The SIT sent Shekhar to judicial custody after producing him in the court. At the same time, Ankit Das is absconding in the case.
Ankit Das had filed a surrender application: Ankit Das and Latif, accused in the Kheri case, had applied for surrender in the court. The court has also summoned a report from the police station Tikunia in this matter and has fixed October 14 as the date of hearing on the application.
Only security personnel found at Ankit Das’s house: After the Safina notice was pasted at Ankit Das’s house, there was silence at his house on Wednesday. There was no one there except the security personnel and the driver. His security personnel told that there is no one at home. Lock is on. He also did not give any information about where the people of the house are. At the same time, there was silence in the whole locality. The people of the neighborhood kept the city from the roofs.
