Mohammad Iftikharuddin, chairman of Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation (Roadways) and former divisional commissioner of Kanpur, admitted that the controversial video viral about conversion is from his official residence.
In the interrogation of the SIT (Special Investigation Team), IAS Iftikharuddin has accepted that the video is from his Kanpur Divisional Commissioner residence. Along with this it has also been said that these videos are from Ramzan. During interrogation with the team, he repeatedly refused to talk about conversion. The SIT is also examining the religious things being said in the viral video as per the All India Service Conduct Rules. Soon the SIT is preparing to submit its report to the government.
A two-member SIT constituted under the chairmanship of DG CBCID GL Meena had on Wednesday questioned IAS officer Iftikharuddin in Lucknow for a long time. After this, the process of interrogation of him started at around 4 pm on Thursday. During this, Iftikharuddin’s wife and two other family members also accompanied him to the CBCID headquarters. ADG Kanpur Zone Bhanu Bhashkar, who is involved in the SIT, has interrogated Iftikharuddin in a series of questions regarding the viral video and his books.
During this, an attempt was made especially to know who are the other people seen in the video with him and how long he has been associated with Iftikharuddin. What kind of talks were done in the religious program held at the official residence of Kanpur Divisional Commissioner. On the other hand, a senior IPS officer says that according to the Service Conduct Rules, there is no restriction on following any religion or conducting any religious event. While in office, a public servant is not allowed to propagate any particular religion or to give any speech by going to any religious event. Another officer says that during this time if any public servant says or writes anything against any religion, then that act is punishable under the rules. Mohammad Iftikharuddin was posted as Divisional Commissioner of Kanpur from 17 February 2014 to 22 April 2017.
