Sambhal: On the day of marriage in Hayatnagar police station area of Sambhal, UP, the groom ran away from home. The bride’s side kept waiting and the procession did not reach. All the preparations were put on hold. The bride’s mother lodged a complaint with the police, accusing her of not marrying her daughter for not fulfilling the demand of bike and two lakh rupees in dowry, but the police has not taken any action.
The woman, resident of Mohalla Kotla of Saraitrin, had fixed the marriage of her daughter with a youth resident of Saif Khan Sarai of Sadar Kotwali area. The procession was to go on Friday, but instead of going to the in-laws’ house as a groom, the young man left the house and ran away. The girl was sitting as a bride waiting for the groom but the procession did not reach. Contacted the people of the groom’s side for several hours but the youth could not be traced. Later it was learned that the groom was demanding a bike and two lakh rupees in dowry. When the bride’s mother said that there was no arrangement of bike and two lakh rupees, then the groom did not reach with the procession. Home-made dishes for the processions were left on one side. On the other hand, the bride was also sitting adorned with makeup.
The bride’s mother reached the police station and gave a complaint to the police for action against the accused youth and his family, but the police did not take any action even on the second day of the incident. At the same time, the station in-charge Rajesh Singh Solanki told that the talks are going on between both the sides. If the girl side says then action will be taken.
