Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has returned to Lucknow on Tuesday night after a day’s stay at his Karmabhoomi Gorakhpur. CM Yogi Adityanath will distribute free LPG cylinder connections to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana along with several programs in Lucknow on Wednesday. Special provision has been made in the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme for those migrant laborers who were earlier deprived of this benefit due to lack of proof of address.
CM Yogi Adityanath will distribute free LPG connections to the beneficiaries under the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana from his official residence, Panch Kalidas Marg in Lucknow on Wednesday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also interact with the beneficiaries of different districts of the state on this occasion. In Lucknow, this program will be completed through virtual medium. Under the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, free cooking gas has been provided to more than eight crore families of the country. In Uttar Pradesh, 1.47 crore families have been benefitted by the scheme. This number is the highest in the entire country. Under Ujjwala Yojana 2.0, along with providing the first refill to the beneficiaries free of cost, the stove will also be given free.
In the second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally launch Ujjwala 2.0 in the state on Wednesday. In the program organized on this occasion, CM Yogi Adityanath will also interact with the beneficiary women of Ujjwala Yojana. Special provision has been made in the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme for those migrant laborers who were earlier deprived of this benefit due to lack of proof of address. Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma will give connections to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme in Rae Bareli. He will hold a meeting with the District Panchayat President and party office bearers at the Collectorate’s Bachat Bhawan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Ujjwala 2.0 in the country on August 10. Taking this forward, 20 lakh new beneficiaries will get LPG connection under Ujjwala 2.0. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has become a means of making a comprehensive change in the lives of the women standing at the last rung of the society and rid them of the diseases caused by smoke. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched in 2016 and at that time a target of providing LPG connections to women members of five crore BPL families was set. Subsequently, in April 2018, the scheme was expanded to include women beneficiaries of seven more categories (SC/ST, PMAY, AAY, Extremely Backward Classes, Tea Garden, Forest Dwellers, Islanders) The target has been revised to 8 crore LPG connections.
