New Delhi. Team India’s tension may increase in the remaining two T20 International matches between India and Sri Lanka. There are reports that eight players, who were close contacts of Krunal Pandya, will also not be able to play in the remaining two matches and they will also have to be in mandatory isolation. However, a source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Tuesday that the Kovid-19 test reports of eight players who came in close contact of Krunal have come negative and they will be available for selection in the remaining two T20 Internationals. Although ESPN Cricinfo is to be believed, even players who came in close contact will not be able to take the field. The second T20 International match was to be played on July 27, but it had to be postponed after Krunal Pandya’s Kovid-19 test report came positive.
According to Sports Tak, out of the eight players who were in close contact with Krunal, the names of eight are as follows – Yuzvendra Chahal, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, Krishnappa Gautam and Manish Pandey. If players with close contact do not play in the last two matches, then the problems of Team India can increase significantly. Under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian team has come with 20 players on this tour. There are also four standby net bowlers in the team. There has been no official statement about whether these eight players will play or not.
Krunal will not be able to return home with the rest of the team on July 30, apart from the doubts about Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw leaving for England. Both of them have been selected as replacements for the five-match Test series against England and were to leave for England at the end of the T20I series. Now it has to be seen when these two can leave for England.
